Funeral live streaming at St George Serbian Orthodox Church Cathedral

Post-war Serbian migrants founded St George at 348 Cabramatta Road, and its red-brick towers are well known in the area. We stream Serbian Orthodox funerals from the cathedral for families here and relatives in Serbia.

About St George Serbian Orthodox Church Cathedral

St George is the main Serbian Orthodox cathedral for the community in western Sydney. It was founded by Serbian migrants who came after the Second World War. The red-brick building follows an immigrant church style, with tall towers facing Cabramatta Road. Services are mainly in Serbian and Church Slavonic.

Many Serbian families in Sydney have relatives in Serbia or elsewhere in Europe who cannot travel at short notice. A morning funeral in Cabramatta falls in the middle of the night in Belgrade, so the recording matters as much as the stream. We film the full service, in Serbian and Church Slavonic.

Questions families ask

Can a funeral at St George Serbian Orthodox Cathedral be live streamed?

Yes. The priest at St George decides whether a funeral can be filmed, and your funeral director checks with him before the day. After that, we film the whole service on Cabramatta Road and send the family a private link. They can pass it to relatives in Serbia and elsewhere.

Can family in Serbia watch a funeral at Cabramatta?

Yes. The private link works overseas, and the family can send it by text, email, Viber or WhatsApp. Serbia is between eight and ten hours behind Sydney, so most relatives there watch the recording. It covers the whole service, including the Serbian and Church Slavonic parts.
