Funeral live streaming at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery
Rookwood Catholic Cemetery has served Sydney's Catholic community since 1867 and is run by Catholic Cemeteries and Crematoria. It has five chapels of its own inside the Rookwood Necropolis, and we have filmed and streamed funerals in them.
About Rookwood Catholic Cemetery
The oldest chapel here is St Michael the Archangel, a Gothic Revival building from 1890 that seats about 70. Sacred Heart Chapel went up in 1928, was restored in 2011 and seats about 100. Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel seats about 160 and houses Crematorium in the Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel building. The Waterway Pavilion takes about 100 and the Mausoleum of the Resurrection Chapel about 175.
Each chapel at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery has a condolence lounge, parking and wheelchair access. The chapel names matter here, because the Necropolis also holds two other crematoria with their own chapels. In whichever Catholic chapel is booked, we set up at least three cameras and our own mobile internet, and the family receives the recording after the funeral.

Questions families ask
The chapels at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery have their own streaming. Can we still book Stream Catcher?
Yes. The chapels have their own audio, streaming and recording equipment, and that suits a lot of families. If you want at least three cameras on the service and a recording to keep, ask your funeral director to book us. We work alongside the chapel staff and run the stream on our own internet.
Is Rookwood Catholic Cemetery the same as the Rookwood crematoria?
No. Rookwood Catholic Cemetery is run by Catholic Cemeteries and Crematoria and has its own five chapels. Rookwood General Cemetery and Crematorium on Hawthorne Avenue and Rookwood Memorial Gardens and Crematorium on Memorial Avenue are separate businesses. All three are inside the Rookwood Necropolis, so the chapel name on the funeral notice matters.
Planning a service?
Tell us the date and the venue and we will take care of the rest with your funeral director.
Stream Catcher is an independent live streaming business and is not part of Rookwood Catholic Cemetery. Some venues have their own rules about filming, and your funeral director can confirm them.
