About Rookwood General Cemetery and Crematorium
This is the crematorium that opened in 1925 as the first in New South Wales, designed by the architect Frank Bloomfield. The All Souls Chapel on this site is an Art Deco building from 1954 with full disability access. Two more chapels sit on the Hawthorne Avenue site: the East Chapel for about 70 people and the West Chapel for about 75.
Families often mix up the venues at Rookwood, so check the Hawthorne Avenue address on the funeral notice before it goes out to relatives. The chapels here take multi-faith and non-denominational services.
