When it opened at Sydenham in 1969, St Mary & St Mina was among the first Coptic Orthodox churches outside the Nile Valley. It has been in Bexley since 2002, and we stream Coptic funerals there for families in Sydney and Egypt.

The church moved from Sydenham to the corner of Forest Road and Bayview Road, Bexley, in 2002. It is now the seat of the Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney and Affiliated Regions. Services are held in Coptic, Arabic and English.
Many Coptic families in Sydney have relatives in Egypt who cannot fly out at short notice. A Sydney morning funeral happens overnight in Cairo, so most of them watch the recording. We film the full service in all three languages and send the family a private link.
