Funeral live streaming at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
Holy Trinity on Bourke Street, Surry Hills dates from 1898 and is generally regarded as the first dedicated Greek Orthodox church in Australia. Greek families across Sydney still hold funerals there, and we stream them for relatives overseas.
About Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
Holy Trinity was built in the Byzantine style. In 1931 the facade was rebuilt in an Inter-War Romanesque style, which is the front you see on Bourke Street today. The church has been on the NSW State Heritage Register since 2010. Services are held mainly in Greek.
Holy Trinity is where many of Sydney's early Greek families worshipped, and some families keep coming back for funerals even after moving to other suburbs. Relatives in Greece or Cyprus often cannot make it in time. We stream to a private link, and the recording goes to anyone who could not watch live.

Questions families ask
Can a funeral at Holy Trinity, Surry Hills be live streamed?
Yes. Your funeral director asks the priest at Holy Trinity before the day, because the priest decides whether a funeral is filmed. Once that is settled, we set up in the church ahead of the family. Relatives who cannot come to Surry Hills follow the service live on a private link.
Does the stream include the Greek chanting?
Yes. The funeral service at Holy Trinity is mostly in Greek, and we film it in full, chanting and hymns included. We do not cut anything from the recording. Relatives overseas can watch it later if the service falls at night for them.
