John Dunmore Lang founded Scots Church in 1824 as the first Presbyterian church in Sydney. We film funerals at the 1929 church on Margaret Street and stream them for family who cannot get to the city.
About Scots Church
The present Scots Church dates from 1929 and stands at 42-44 Margaret Street. Since 2005 an apartment tower has risen above the church. The congregation's burial records go back to the old Scots Burial Ground of the 1820s to 1840s, so some families have a very long link with the church.
A funeral at Scots Church can bring together families who have belonged to the congregation for generations, and some of those relatives now live overseas. We bring at least three cameras and our own mobile internet to Margaret Street. The recording suits anyone in a different time zone.
