About St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church
Work on St Nicholas started in 1961, and the church opened in 1966. The local Greek community raised about $140,000 to build it. The church stands at 203-207 Livingstone Road, Marrickville, with a domed tower on each side of the entrance. Services are held mainly in Greek.
Marrickville was home to many Greek families who arrived in the 1950s and 1960s, and plenty of their children and grandchildren now live elsewhere. Some relatives are still in Greece or Cyprus. We stream the funeral to a private link, and the family gets a recording for anyone who missed it.
